Welcome to the Phantoms

The Peterborough Phantoms Para Ice Hockey Club was formed in 2011, after a major push by Planet Ice and the British Sledge Hockey Association, to breathe new life into the game within the UK. As a sport, it had been around since the early 1980’s, with GB attending the Winter Paralympic Games in 1994 when the sport made it’s international debut.

The British league now boasts a total of 5 clubs based across the country. Tese teams are the Manchester Mayhem, Cardiff Huskies, Sheffield Steelkings, Sheffield Steelstings and the Peterborough Phantoms.

In 2011, we won our first trophy, the Play Off finals against the established team, Kingston Kestrels. It took another 2 years for our club to gain experience and in 2013 we won the first Planet Ice League Championship. We followed this up in 2014 with the League and Play Off double, and in 2015 we successfully retained the League Championship for a third time. 2016 saw us win our 4th League Championship in 4 years, along with our 3rd Play-Off Tournament trophy.

In 2024 we joined the Peterborough Phantoms Ice Hockey family, which includes the 5 Junior teams, the Womens main and development teams, the National 2 team and the National Ice Hockey League primary team. As part of this we rebranded our logo to match the rest of the teams under the Phantoms brand.

The club started with only a small handful of players, and we are constantly growing our squad every season. We are proud to provide a fully inclusive experience for those new or experienced to the game, with able bodied players playing alongside disabled athletes as equals.

We have helped to develop players, and over the years Phantoms men and women players have represented Great Britain at World Championships and the Winter Paralympica . We are always looking for new members, so if you’re interested in giving this great sport a go, please contact us.

We are based at the Planet Ice Arena in North Bretton (PE3 8YN), and we are competing in the British Para Ice Hockey League this season – attempting to claim more silverware. Our league campaign runs from May until August, with the end of season Play-Off Tournament taking place at the start of September.
