The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) have advised that the 2019 World Para Ice Hockey Championships, Pool B, have been awarded to Germany.
The Tournament will run from the 15th – 22nd November with Great Britain facing hosts Germany as well as Russia, Slovakia, Poland and newly promoted China in the 6 team tournament.
The tournament will take place in Berlin during the last 2 weeks of November 2019. It will be held in the Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf district of Berlin at the Eissporthalle P09 close to the Olympic park. The arena, which was opened in 2011, features two ice pads, including a 1,000 capacity rink that is the home to ECC Preussen Berlin.
The GB Team includes a number of players from the Peterborough Phantoms, and is coached by our very own Coach, Ian Offers.
As with the last World Championships, in Japan in November 2016, the Great Britain team will be self funded, with players working hard to raise the funds required to attend the tournament. Players will be undertaking fundraising events to cover the teams participation costs, and anyone who would like to help with finding or sponsorship should contact the British Para Ice Hockey Association.
The GB Team will be getting together at their next monthly training camp at the end of June a Planet Ice Widnes. The 2 day camp will feature two on-ice and an off-ice session a the teams prepares for the Berlin tournament.
