The Peterborough Phantoms opened their 2024 BPIHA League Campaign with an impressive 9-0 victory over the Sheffield Steelstings.
The new look Phantoms Phantoms included a number of players making their debut having joined the team during the winter. Gary Farmer has rejoined the team for this season, whilst Karl Nicholson, Peggy Assinck, Kieran O’Meara and Naomi Jenks all departed the team at the end of last season.
Phantoms started the game well and had a 4-0 lead at the end of the opening period of play. Callum Shakespeare, Jamie Hutchcraft and Gary Farmer (2) netting the goals.
A further two goals from Farmer made it 6-0 after 30 minutes and the Phantoms were in complete control of the game.
Steelstings started strong in the final period, as they looked to break the Phantoms shutout but a goal from Farmer settled the Phantoms and Farmer went on to score a further 2 goals before the final buzzer.
Phantoms return to action on Saturday 1st June, when they travel to Widnes to face the Manchester Mayhem and some familiar faces !
