On Friday evening, the British Para Ice Hockey Association received news from the Kingston Kestrels that they would not be entering a team in the 2019 British Para Ice Hockey League.
The club has been working, with the support of the other British Teams, over the past few weeks to get a team for the league, but finally conceded defeat on Friday.
Whilst it is sad to see the Kestrels taking a year out, everyone within the sport hopes to see the team back for the 2020 season. A number of the players have already secured slots with other teams within the league, to allow them to carry on playing the sport they enjoy so much.
The 4 remaining teams – Cardiff Huskies, Manchester Mayhem, Peterborough Phantoms and Sheffield Steelkings – will now contest the 2019 British Para Ice Hockey League, with each teams facing off against the other teams once at home and once away (6 games each). The season will run from May until the end of August, with the End of Season Play-Off tournament taking place in early September.
The 2019 fixtures will be released at 9am on Wednesday.
